Requisition ID:  18025
Contract type:

What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

The Law and Policy Outreach Unit leads the ICRC’s online and onsite outreach to law and policy circles in support of influencing key actors and decision-makers on humanitarian issues. It brings together multidisciplinary outreach capacities encompassing the Law and Policy Blog, research and debate cycles as well as the work on online platforms and digital promotion strategies.

  • offers digital tools and communication advice to promote the ICRC’s law and policy publications, events and initiatives through digital means (Law and Policy Newsletter, The Homeanitarian - internal weekly social-media roundup, social media campaigns);

  • develops and maintains a solid onsite and online events organization expertise providing guidance on the organization of events designed to foster debate on IHL, other relevant norms, related policies and positions, including those dealing more broadly with humanitarian action.
