If you are applying to the ICRC, you may be asked to participate in a pre-recorded video interview. This is a crucial step in our recruitment process, during which candidates record their responses via video using a platform provided by our recruitment teams.
To understand how our recruiters use this technology to identify suitable candidates, we spoke with Audrey, Head of Talent Attraction and Acquisition at the ICRC. She reflected on the decision to integrate this technology into the recruitment process in 2018. “At that time, our recruitment volume had doubled, prompting us to seek new methods to assess applicants’ skills and motivation. Pre-recorded videos allowed us to automate the telephone inquiries we previously made to gather key information. This streamlined our process, enabling us to consider more candidates and refine our shortlist.”
Furthermore, pre-recorded video interviews provide insights into candidates’ communication skills, adaptability and commitment. They allow recruiters to evaluate applicants efficiently before conducting in-depth assessments or face-to-face interviews. As Audrey explains, “this technology empowers recruiters to ask essential questions tailored to the position, ensuring that we invite the right candidates for interviews. This saves HR, panelists and candidates time and enables us to assess a candidate’s potential beyond their CV.”
As for the candidate experience, Audrey recalls that “initially, some candidates were surprised and sought clarification about the pre-recorded interview process. However, today, the majority are well-prepared, resulting in a completion rate exceeding 85%. Candidates benefit from the flexibility to complete the interviews at their convenience from anywhere, showcasing their motivation and commitment to ICRC principles.” Moreover, she emphasizes, “this approach ensures consistency and fairness in the evaluation process, as all candidates respond to the same questions neutrally. And to help our applicants succeed, we share advice that you can find on our Prepare your application page.”
