The role of the ICRC is to direct and coordinate the international activities conducted by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in armed conflict and other situations of violence. Our headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland, and provide a diverse environment for: (1) around 1,000 staff members, (2) more than 160 different roles, and (3) over 120 nationalities. Together, we act in response to emergencies to protect and assist people affected by conflict and violence and we promote respect for international humanitarian law.
