What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

 

Purpose

  • The Emergency Room Nurse, as part of the ICRC Health team, serves in the Emergency Departments of Tebnine and Marjayoun Governmental Hospitals, promoting and ensuring high quality care that meets national and international standards.
  • S/he represents the ICRC in the hospital Emergency Departments, ensuring smooth and efficient cooperation with hospital teams and securing emergency patients’ access to and continuum of health care.
  • S/he supports, coaches, and builds the capacity of emergency department health staff in their specific and general nursing care, meeting departmental goals and ICRC objectives.
  • S/he contributes to a capacity and training strategy, including Standard operating procedures, guidelines, rules & regulations and promotes their practical implementation to improve the clinical management of patients and emergency preparedness.
  • S/he establishes a safe and conducive working environment in the Emergency Departments, focusing on infection prevention and control, hygiene, patient safety, and non-violent communication, even under challenging conditions with limited resources. In addition to this, provide a short description about the desired profile qualifications.

 

Accountabilities & functional responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the hospital teams in the facilitation of access and continuum of health care.
  • Helps in the implementation and adaptation of patient documentation systems in the Emergency Departments.
  • Ensures smooth and efficient cooperation with the relevant ICRC and hospital counterparts in the Emergency Department and provides relevant support to both internal and external partners including audits, chart reviews.
  • Follows measurable goals of correct triage procedures, patient flow, and timely treatment.
  • Promotes and ensures high quality specific and general nursing care and clinical management meeting national and international standards.
  • Establishes a safe patient environment by implementing infection prevention and control measures, hygiene standards, and patient safety protocols.
  • Builds the capacity of health staff in the Emergency Departments by supporting and coaching them in their daily performance. Performs and reports on daily patient rounds with the ICRC and hospital team, including emergency, wards, and high dependency units when relevant.
  • Contributes to the emergency department capacity and training strategy, including monitoring and lessons learned, meeting departmental goals and ICRC objectives, with a focus on acute trauma care.
  • Promotes staff training on the medical equipment available in the Emergency Department, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  • Ensures rational use of drugs and consumables, oversees timely reordering, and follows up on emergency mass casualty stock and Personal protective equipment supply in coordination with hospital staff.
  • Collects accurate data through timely completion and filing of predefined patient/hospital-related documents.
  • Participates effectively in the emergency-preparedness and response measures of the Emergency Departments (Mass casualty plan) and the entire hospital (contingency plans), including surveys and drills.

Certifications / Education required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse with valid License to practice

Professional experience required

  • 5 years overall work experience in a hospital, including 3 years practice in an Emergency Room.
  • ICRC experience is required.

What we offer

  • Salary Package: 2’041 – 2’981 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
  • 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.
  • International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
  • Other benefits subject to internal rules and regulations: High Cost of Living Allowance (HCLA), Schooling allowance, eyeglasses, designated personal training budget for learning opportunities

Additional Information

  • Location: South Hospitals (Tebnine and Marjayoun Governmental Hospitals)
  • Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm.
  • Type of contract: Fixed Term, 1year (Renewable based on performance and need for position).
