The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has some 18,000 staff worldwide. In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. Currently, we have over 700 team members working across the county in various professional fields.
ABOUT THE JOB
The ICRC Protection Work Unit seeks a highly capable Field Protection Officer to join our team in Dnipro. This role supports the efficient implementation of the ICRC’s anchoring, contextual understanding, and operational response in his/her assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR). He/she monitors and reports timely on the general situation in the AoR, with focus on the conduct of hostility and its humanitarian consequences.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the security analysis, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, shares relevant information with team members, and reports any change in the situation
- Implement protection activities under the supervision of the line manager in line with sub-delegation guidelines.
- Collect, compile and interpret protection-related information (with appropriate care for staff risk management)
- Analyze and contribute to internal reporting and documentation of activities
- Participate in internal and external meetings (through preparation, participation, reporting and follow-up)
- Develop and maintain contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population and relevant interlocutors.
- Managing the day-to-day implementation and development of the Safe Cross-Border Passage (SCBP) program in close coordination with the team
- Foster a conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamic) among team members

ABOUT YOU
To be successful as Field Protection Officer in the Protection Work Unit you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- University degree or relevant professional experience
- 3-5 years’ previous professional experiences, for instance in the field of social/political/economic science or similar
- Professional fluency (both written and spoken) in English, Ukrainian and Russian
- Computer literacy
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
