Supply Chain Officer
What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
Supply Chain Officer carries out order fulfilment activities in accordance with service level agreements. S/he ensures that all customers’ needs are understood, met, delivered, and communicated efficiently and effectively. S/he also makes information about potential or firm orders available to other logistics staff and those requesting services.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
• Processes and fulfils clients’ orders according to the ICRC’s logistical and financial procedures and pre-established fulfilment guidelines.
• Ensures that the priorities set by the Supply Chain Coordinator(s) are followed.
• Keeps service requesters regularly informed of the progress of their requests.
• Records and files documents pertaining to the ordering process; registers and forwards claims and comments from service requesters.
• Responsible for the review and analysis of Logistics Performance Dashboards.
• Provides order status regular updates to customers.
• Contributes to supply chain support for an assigned geographic area or specific group of products.
• Ensures that risks are mitigated by performing the controls assigned to his/her role as described in the Logistics Risk and Control Matrix.

Reports to (role)
- Supply Chain Coordinator
Certifications / Education required
- University degree or technical degree with equivalent experience in logistics, administration or equivalent.
- Good command of spoken and written English and the local working language.
- Computer literacy; good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of enterprise resource planning software an asset.
Professional Experience required
- Typically three to five years’ overall professional experience.
- Three years’ previous experience in administration or in a supply chain/logistics department.
- Good knowledge of supply chain processes.
