Cashier 1 (800102)

Purpose

 

Cashier 1 is accountable for the physical processing of cash transactions and the integrity of physical cash balances in a (sub-)delegation, strictly respecting and applying the ICRC's rules on financial management.

 

Accountabilities & functional responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities:

Cashier (65%)

  • Handles the delegation's cash disbursements and payments, including salaries and working advances.
  • Prepare invoices for payment (by cash, check or bank transfer).
  • Carries out daily cash count and reconciliation.
  • Participates in cash-flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity
  • Handles cash replenishment from the bank.
  • Files and reports on relevant documents.
  • Ensure respect for financial procedures and guidelines and explain them to "clients".
  • Pay in cash the fully approved invoices, working advances, PDs, salary advances and other payment order in according to the financial rules.

Accountabilities & functional responsibilities

Welcome responsibilities and duties (35%)

Travel, hotel accommodation and event organisation

  • Assist Welcome officer in pick-up and accommodation (hotel, apartment, house) for staff and guests.
  • Assist mobile and resident staff travel (plane, train, bus, etc.) by the most effective costs/mean and, if required, coordinates drop-off at / pick-up from airports, stations, etc.
  • Assist Welcome officer in organizing middle and large events/meetings/seminars (more than 15 pax.), in coordination with the parties concerned.
  • Assists Welcome Officer in searching for new venues.
  • Assists the Welcome department in all administrative activities as requested.
  • Interacts with relevant authorities (ministries, consulates, etc.) regarding certificates, visas, permits, registration, etc.
  • Supports the Welcome officer to coordinate with Finance in finalizing invoices, supporting documents and their payments.
  • Business cards ordering
  • Assists in Handling distribution of mobile phones and follows up their receipt back upon EoM of a Delegate. 

Additional Duties

  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments
  • Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position
  • Collects and shares information so as to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses
  • Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image.
  • Take responsibility for their own professional learning and development.

Relationships

 

  • Internally, interacts frequently with all staff members on administration-related matters.
  • Externally, interacts with a network of contacts at local level, such as bank representatives and daily workers, under the supervision of the Administration.

 

Professional experience required

  • 2 years' work experience in a similar field.
  • Experience of international organizations is preferable.
  •  Sound knowledge of accounting software.•

 

Certifications / Education required

• Completed bachelor’s degree in accounting/business administration.
• Good level of written and spoken English.
• Computer proficiency.
